Seven centuries before the Muscovites climbed out of the swamps, the state of Kyivan Rus existed. The only thing for all the descendants of great-power Kyivan Rus was the love for their native land and the free sky, which was reflected in the colors of the national Ukrainian yellow-blue flag.
For more than a millennium, they gave birth to their heroes, who showed themselves with an unyielding spirit, the power of words, and heroism on the battlefield. It seemed that with each enemy attack, the souls of prominent Ukrainians moved into their successors and gave them the strength to fight with weapons, words, and songs.
